Alex Bandar is an engineer, a programmer, a creative and a maker of things for fun and profit. For the last 20 years, Bandar has studied materials science and engineering. For the last 10 years, he has worked professionally in that field, and is very interested in bringing a creative, artistic and hands-on approach to learning science and technology. Thus, for the last 5 years, he's been the founder and director of the Columbus Idea Foundry – a community workshop and learning center that provides hands-on education and public access to all manner of fabrication equipment.
Alex brings a few of the items made at the 'Foundry' to the show and explains the genesis and future hopes for this new kind of community resource.
