Mark Johnson is a health/science reporter at The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, though he has trouble working a cell phone. He shared the 2011 Pulitzer Prize in explanatory reporting with four other journalists at the Milwaukee paper. Before that, he covered the 2000 presidential ballot controversy in Florida, the 9/11 attacks in New York and the space shuttle disaster in Houston. Before that he worked at The Providence (R.I.) Journal-Bulletin, The Rockford (IL) Register Star, The Haverhill (MA) Gazette and The Provincetown (MA) Advocate. He also played guitar (badly) in a punk band in the early 1990s. The band, The Bloody Stumps, was part of the vibrant "Rockford Scene."
